welcome to the official site of the 2009 Cleveland Labor Day oktoberfest

NEW IN 2009!
EXTREME BIER GARTEN MAKEOVER!
The 2009 Cleveland Labor Day Oktoberfest will feature a slew of new attractions and activities. This year we'll be serving food and beer inside the Bier Garten, including Chef Roberto's Bratwurst, as well as chicken wings and other appetizers.
Bier Garten Girls in traditional drindl dresses will serve pitchers of beer, and Hofbrau's Dave Gertzel is shipping in authentic Bier Garten tables from Hofbrau Haus just for our event! The Best Oktoberfest Microbrew Competition has been expanded to include multiple styles of German Beer, and we welcome new entrants Willoughby Brewing Company, Fat Heads Brewery, Gordon Biersch of Columbus, and Cellar Rat's Brewing Company of Madison, OH. NEW DANCE AND MUSICAL ACTS IN THE INTERNATIONAL PAVILIION
Our International Pavilions new acts include The Cavaliers Scream Team, Dance Israeli, The Rock City Hip Hop Dancers, Tropical Cleveland's Salsa Dancers (as seen on TV!), and Ritmo Y Raza's Carribean Dancers. To view a complete list of all International Pavilion acts, click here.
TO SEE A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN A GRAIN OF SAND
Sand sculptor Carl Jara has always been a hit at the Oktoberfest, but now he's more than just a local phenom, he is a World Champion! This year Carl will be doing his take on the famous fable of Hansel and Gretel.
CLOCK TICKING DOWN TO THE UNVEILING OF THE 2009 GLOCKENSPIEL
The Glockenspiel is to the Oktoberfest what Mardis Gras is to Bourbon Street. The 2009 Glockenspiel will feature all new comic sketches, and has been upgraded so that it functions as a real clock! Look out for some new hi-tech special effects as well as The Celebrity Bead Toss. Every hour on the hour, the clock strikes fun, so be sure to catch a Glockenspiel act, and see if you can't catch an Oktoberfest souvenir in the process!
THE GINGERBREAD MAN
Who can teach the children, the boys and girls
To Build a yummy home
Of peppermint swirls
The Gingerbread Man.
The Gingerbread Man.
The Gingerbread Man can
Cause he mixes molasses, sugar
And ginger to make your house taste good.
Who makes icicles from frosting
Caulks leaks with licorice
As
butterscotch glows
From his candied windows
The Gingerbread Man.
The Gingerbread Man.
The Gingerbread Man can,
Cause he mixes molasses, sugar
And ginger to make your house taste good.
Whose house is roofed with cookies
And hard candy shingles
As powdered sugar snows down
With a rainbow of sprinkles.
The Gingerbread Man.
The Gingerbread Man.
The Gingerbread Man can
Cause he mixes molasses, sugar
And ginger to make your house taste good.

Award winning home builder, Dr. John Learner thrives despite the foreclosure crisis. No matter the economy, the market seems to eat his houses up! Dr. Learner will build a special haunted gingerbread house which will be on display throughout the Oktoberfest. He will also offer classes on how kids can construct their own incredible edible edifices!
Classes on gingerbread house building will be limited to 20 houses per class, so you can take the class by yourself or with your family. A signup sheet will be posted shortly, and there will be a nominall fee for purchasing a kit which has all you need to make your own gingerbread house.
