OKTOBERFEST RETURNS TO BEREA
The Berea Labor Day Oktoberfest will once again fill the Cuyahoga County
Fairgrounds with music, dancing, fun and lots of traditional German food. The
event will be held Labor Day weekend August 29th -Sept. 1st, 2008
"Our mission is to produce a high quality event that generates income for
the Kiwanis Club of Berea's charitable work in southwest Cuyahoga County,"
said Bob Haas event president, who has this year expanded the menu by bringing in some of the finest German restaurants in OH, from Schmidt's of German Village (Columbus, OH), to Der Braumeister & Seven Roses of Cleveland, and the award winning Sophie's Brats, also of Cleveland.
Traditional German food and beer along with soft drinks will be served in
an 80' x 220' specially decorated tent. The Vienna Cafe will serve authentic
pastries, strudels and gourmet coffee. Rock music, cornhole and many other fun activities will be in the new Bier Garden.
The event will feature continuous family entertainment throughout the weekend
including local and regional performers and local and regional youth and adult
dance groups.
Antique and collectible German cars will also be on display. And there
will be a German Cultural Display, merchants selling authentic German items
and a children's play area open throughout the weekend.
"It's wonderful to celebrate Oktoberfest at the Fairgrounds again," said
Robert Filippi president of the Donauschwaben German-American Cultural Center
and Entertainment Chairman for the event.
The event will be held at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds with free
parking on Friday, August 29 from 5:00 11:00 P.M.; Saturday,
August 30 and Sunday, August 31 from noon until 11:00 P.M.; and Monday,
September 1 from noon 9:00 P.M. Tickets are $8.00. Children
12 and under receive free admission.
